The DNC Is Coming to Philly

Metro will celebrate the Democratic National Convention being held in Philadelphia with a special edition newspaper and dedicated magazine.

Metro will keep Philadelphians up-to-date with all the latest news on the DNC on its opening day July 25 – as well as daily coverage in print and online at metro.us/philly-dnc.

Monday, July 25th edition of Metro:

Metro will print a special keepsake edition with a bright white cover and the paper will include all the latest news on the DNC on its opening day. Ed Rendell will be our guest editor and cover story. Ed is the former mayor of Philadelphia, former Governor of Pennsylvania and former chairman of the DNC. A larger than life personality and local celebrity, Ed Rendell is probably one of the best liked Philadelphians and is known as the “Democrat Emeritus” in this town.

DNC Magazine:

A glossy magazine dedicated to happenings pertaining to the convention will also be inserted into every copy with additional copies distributed around Philly. Features will include:

  • “Live Philadelphia Like A Delegate” – info about events happening around the convention
  • “Experience The DNC Like A Philadelphian” – maps, neighborhood-by-neighborhood guides to the convention, restaurants, and more!

Magazine Distribution:

Metro will be printing 100,000 copies of the magazine which will be inserted in every copy of Metro on July 25, with additional copies overprinted and distributed at hotels, venues and high-traffic events throughout the week. Copies will also be distributed at PoliticalFest, special events around Philadelphia designed to engage and entertain visiting delegates residents. The experience will consist of exhibits at seven participating locations, each centered around a specific theme related to American politics, government, and history.

Locations include the National Constitution Center, Pennsylvania Convention Center, National Liberty Museum, Philadelphia History Museum, the Philadelphia Library Company, Historical Society of Pennsylvania and the Heritage Center at the Union League. Additional copies of the magazine will also be available at major Septa stops along the Broad Street Line, plus 30th Street Station, Suburban Station and Jefferson Station.
