This Season in Metro: Spring 2017
From arts and going out to sports and entertainment, here’s a look at what’s going on this season in Metro.
Highlights coming up in the months of April-June include Earth Day, the NFL draft, summer movies and fun, and the summer arts preview, Metro’s seasonal special section featuring dance, performing arts, music and more!
Springtime brings with it the the ending of hockey and basketball. On April 11 we’ll turn our focus to hockey, with a preview of the upcoming NHL playoffs. Continuing coverage can be found in print and online at metro.us/sports all the way through to the Stanley Cup. The NBA playoffs will be previewed on April 14, with continuing coverage in print and online.
April 17 marks the 121st running of the Boston Marathon! Metro Boston’s coverage will include a route map, best places to watch the marathon, where to eat and drink and much more. April 17 is also when Metro will publish its special Earth Day section, which will include coverage of all Earth Day events and environmental issues.
In Philadelphia, a special camp guide will be published on April 17, a comprehensive guide to local camps and activities for younger kids. Metro Philadelphia will also publish a catholic school guide on April 24, a catalog to all the catholic schools in the Philadelphia area.
April 27 brings the NFL Draft back to Philly for the first time in almost 60 years! Metro Philadelphia will run a “Countdown to the NFL Draft” in the days leading up to the event that will tie in sports news and features. The special coverage begins running on Friday, April 21 culminating in a pull-out section on Thursday, April 27. Features will include a full mock NFL draft, profiles of the top NFL draft targets, local Eagles coverage and more.
Metro’s summer movie guide, a preview of all the upcoming releases due to hit theaters over the course of summer 2017, will be released on May 5. Metro Philadelphia will publish its charter school guide to charter schools in and round Philadelphia on May 10. The summer fun guide and magazine will be issued on May 18. This all-access guide to your city’s summer favorites will include seasonal dining, concerts and festivals, ideas for family fun, weekend getaways and more! This section will be included in the paper in Boston and New York and will be a magazine insert in Philly.
A special wedding section, publishing June 1, will help readers plan the perfect day. From the gowns to the cocktails, we’ll feature ideas for every bride. Metro’s seasonal special section featuring dance, performing arts, music and more will be published June 9. The summer arts preview is the go-to guide for all things arts related in your city! Finally, as summer gets into high-gear, we’ll have July 4th happenings in the going out section on June 29. Featuring festivities including the best places to watch fireworks, parties, BBQs and more, this is your guide to all things July 4th in your city.
